Countdown to Key West

Key West Southernmost point marker

Well, it's just seven days until we hit the road for the Key West trip. We have been checking the tourism websites, other RV travel blogs, and talking with friends who have already visited there for recommendations on "must see, do, or taste".

Although it is tempting to make a checklist to do it all, part of the fun of a sabbatical is to see where each day leads and follow our curiosity. That said, we will keep a list of things we could do and then pick and choose as the mood strikes.

Right now, we have recommendations for a couple of great restaurants in Key West, found a great beach for snorkeling on the way down, cautioned about the madness of Mallory Square at sunset, and reminded that Mel Fisher has a ship wreck museum to check out.

For now, we need to get the kayak cleaned and packed along with its gear, get the RV serviced, and then pack like a ninja to get everything we need - and a few "just gotta take along" items in our little B+ Unity. Looks like just one uke and no bongos on this trip so we can make room for Jim's guitar!

If you have a favorite beach or restaurant in the Keys or a recommendation for a boat charter, let us know in the comments below!
